Bala Falls Hydro Plant: Premier Needs Right Information

Bala | by Matt Sitler

Group opposed to the project says cancelling the plant could save the province $70 million.

Save The Bala Falls wants Premier Doug Ford to hear them out on ways  to cancel the Bala Falls Hydro Plant without getting sued.

The group’s spokesperson Mitchell Schneir says Ford hasn’t received  the right information on the issue and that cancelling the plant could  save the province $70 million.

Schneir says Ontario has the power to follow Save the Bala Falls’  advice if it wants to.

He adds that the Ford government is dealing with a $15 billion deficit and has to save money.

Schneir says the government has announced that there’s already enough  power for the next 10 years and that the government would be paying  above market rates for power generated at the new power plant, which he says is “unnecessary.”
