Owen Sound Police say they have charged a 56-year-old man with voyeurism and mischief following an investigation at a multi-unit residence on the east side of Owen Sound.
Police say detectives used a search warrant to find a video camera hidden in an imitation heating vent, that had a view into the washroom of a neighbouring apartment.
According to police the victim had suspicions they were being watched and contacted police.
They say the investigation lasted only a couple of days with the accused being arrested on November 29th.
According to a police media release, the camera took pictures for several months and the accused could view the images through a separate monitor.
Police state the accused worked maintenance in the building.
It is thought the camera was installed in anticipation of the victim moving into the apartment.
Owen Sound Police have not named the accused as the charges have yet to be sworn before the courts.
Police have also not indicated the apartment building where these alleged incidents occurred to protect the victim's identity.
The accused is expected to appear in court in January 2020.
