Winterhawks Take Loss Agaisnt Minto

Saugeen Shores | by John Divinski

Saugeen Shores, Ripley and Clinton each have 20-points.

Saugeen Shores Winterhawks were surprised by the Minto 81's, 6-3 in WOAA Senior hockey.

The 81's were leading 4-0 before the Hawks got on the board at the half way mark of the second period.

Hawks coach Matt Turcotte said the opposition came prepared and it was "too little too late" for the home squad.

With the loss by the Hawks and the loss by the Ripley Wolves to Clinton, it results in a 3-way tie for top spot in the standings.

Saugeen Shores, Ripley and Clinton each have 20-points.

Turcotte is hoping the Friday night game will clear the way for a better performance Saturday night in Seaforth against the Centenaires.

Gametime in Seaforth is 7:30pm.

Two other games played in the WOAA on Friday night:

Clinton won 3-2 over Ripley, handing the Wolves their first loss of the season.

Durham beat Shallow Lake, 9-2.  The Crushers are still looking for their first win of the season.
