Man Allegedly Resists Arrest In Port Elgin Over Stolen Truck

Police arrest a man who they say refused to get out of a truck stolen from Owen Sound.

Saugeen Shores Police have arrested a 30 year old man of no fixed address after police say he was found in a stolen pickup.  

According to police, an officer saw what they considered to be a suspicious vehicle on Arlington Street in Port Elgin.

They say a 2020 Dodge Ram was running with a man sitting in it, but the man appeared to be unconscious.

Police say a check of the plates revealed the truck had been stolen from a car rental company in Owen Sound.

The officer reportedly work the man up, but he refused to get out of the locked truck.

Eventually the officer opened the door and tried to remove the man from the truck, but the man resisted.

Police say a struggle ensued and eventually the man was taken out of the vehicle and arrested.

Police say a search of the truck revealed a concealed weapon they say was stored in a manner that was dangerous to the public.

He faces charges related to possession of property obtained by crime, resisting police and possession of a weapon considered dangerous to the public.

Police say he has a court date, but have not released his name or the date of his court appearance.
