Tim's In Grey Bruce Not Cutting Back

Grey Bruce | by Kevin Bernard

NDP member says local Tim Hortons owners have not cut benefits or made changes.

NDP Assoc. President Michael McLuhan

The local NDP riding Association President is praising the franchise holders of Tim Horton's in Owen Sound, Hepworth and Wiarton.

Michael McLuhan says he has talked with some employees at the outlets and was told the owners are not making changes to their benefits or paid lunch breaks.

McLuhan says he decided to look into the issue, after the turmoil caused in Coburg, Ontario and several other centres where the franchise holders had made controversial moves after the minimum wage went up to 14 dollars an hour January 1st.

Those changes have led to protests in a number of cities.

But McLuhan says the local Tim Hortons owners are acting responsibly and are not targeting their anger against the Kathleen Wynne government, at their workers.
