There was no Junior B Lacrosse playoff game last night.
And that's a bummer.
After a month of Sundays in which the Bluewater ProTeam NorthStars survived, prevailed, advanced and then finally blew one at home, there was no game last night at the J.D. McArthur Arena and I really missed it.
The NorthStars were eliminated last week by the Elora Mohawks in the 5th and deciding game of the Western Conference Semifinals.
And with this NorthStar team, that series almost personified the season, which was, by and large, loaded with excitement and thrillers.
The 2009 Owen Sound NorthStars lost games you expected them to win; regular season especially, when you think about defeats at Guelph, at Hamilton & at London.
Then again, they won games you might have expected them to lose, take a key win at Orangeville in early June.
The NorthStars were virtually unbeatable at home & won games in the late going in many contests scoring the winner in the last few minutes until their last playoff home game when the Mohawks ironically shocked them by reversing that trend.
It was fun, and it definitely didn't lack drama.
Quite likely the NorthStars players, the executive and their fans are lamenting the way the playoff series with Elora slipped away.
But that too is lacrosse, and some day, when the sting of losing subsides, this year's edition of the NorthStars will recognize they have a lot to be proud of.
