Attack Host Erie Tonight
Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
Did you ever look at something with pride and think, ' that's pretty good. ' ?
And then did you ever look at the very same thing and think ' wait a minute, that's not very good ! '.
Such is the case in point with the Owen Sound Attack who host Erie tonight in an early season Ontario Hockey League Midwest Division matchup.
I concede it's early in the season and perhaps I may be reading too much into this, but.....
The Attack, inside and outside of the organization, came in to the season with high aspirations; as proof, the BMO Poll had them at # 2 in the CHL and yet, they're essentially a .500 team after 6 outings.
Now, they've only lost once in regulation, the other 2 defeats were shootout affairs, but I would be inaccurate if I said that Flint, Sarnia and recently Kitchener weren't full value for their wins over the Attack.
On another level, Owen Sound goes into the game tonight with a 25 game regular season point streak on home ice that dates back to December 10th.
That's Good........but this year, for arguments sake, they're just 2 & 2 with the 2 shootout losses on home ice.
As I look at the Attack lineup, I like what I see. It's a very capable group who should win a lot of games this year.
What I don't like is what I've seen to this point in 5 of the 6 games. Excepting the blowout win over Windsor, too many games have featured blunders, fumbles, errors and curious decisions- the kind of plays that don't equate to winning hockey.
In the short term, the Owen Sound Attack have been good enough, but good enough isn't going to cut it in the long term. Not this year.
Game time for the Attack & Erie tonight is 7 pm.
