Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

Here's a quick roundup for today.

First, the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials are heading towards a climax. but the climax won't include Owen Sound skip Julie Tippin.

After opening the event with a win, Tippin fell to 1 & 4 yesterday with a 9-6 loss to Manitoba's Michelle Englot dropping the Woodstock entry to 8th place.

Today, Tippin looks to hand undefeated Chelsea Carey of Alberta her first loss.

Closer to home, after last night's action in the Brokerlink Insurance Grey Bruce Major Curling League, rinks skipped by Al Hutchinson, Shawn Smailes and Don Bartley all nailed down Tier 1 playoff positions.

The first phase of the playoff round will be determined next week following the matches at Owen Sound Blue Water.

In hockey, the OHL season hasn't unfolded as anticipated with the Owen Sound Attack.

Yesterday there was great news with Jonah Gadjovich & Nick Suzuki getting invites to the National Junior Selection Camp.

And while everyone hopes they ultimately play for Canada, it does mean Owen Sound could be down 5 forwards at certain points in the month ahead.

And finally, Thursday night is Hockey Night in Meaford.

Tonight in the Greater Metro Junior League, the Knights host the New Tecumseth Civics in a battle between clubs that are separated by just 1 point in the North Division.

Game time is 7:30 pm

Have a great Thursday.

I'm Fred Wallace
