Attack at London, Home To Guelph
Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
It's a Midwest Division weekend for the Owen Sound Attack starting tonight at London and then coming home tomorrow night to host Guelph.
Let's start with the game tonight.
The Attack come into the game riding a season high 3 game win streak.
The Knights, who lost in a shootout Tuesday at home to Kitchener, are also on a streak, having picked up points in their last 4 outings.
London, even after significant discarding prior to the Trade Deadline are 4th in the Western Conference, 9 points up on the Attack who are 8th.
I see no way for Owen Sound to rally and catch London with 24 dates left on their schedule.
In fact, it's been a long held belief of mine that after Christmas, you can't bridge a 7 point gap.
I hope I'm wrong on that.
On January 5th, the Attack lost at Guelph, giving the Storm a 7 point bulge over Owen Sound in the division and the Conference.
To Owen Sound's credit, they've cut the deficit to 3 points over the last 3 weeks.
Regardless, if the Attack are to finish higher than 8th, that is if they are to avoid a first round playoff meeting with Sault Ste Marie, then Owen Sound needs points tonight at London and desperately needs victories in all 4 of their remaining matches with Guelph.
Have a great weekend.
I'm Fred Wallace
