Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire. "
On the high school front, the CWOSSA Winter term Championships are being staged in multiple sports.
Already, there's been Nordic Skiing near Orangeville, Alpine Skiing at Beaver Valley & the CWOSSA Swim meet at Baden.
Obviously because the top CWOSSA competitors and teams advance to the various OFSAA Championships, these are significant events.
They're even more significant when they're conducted in your own backyard which is the case for the upcoming CWOSSA Curling and CWOSSA Hockey Championships.
First of all, next Tuesday and Wednesday, the curling clubs in Port Elgin and Southampton will be hosting the CWOSSA Girls and CWOSSA Boys playdowns.
The winning rinks next Wednesday will advance to the OFSAA Curling Finals at Fort Frances March 20th-25th.
Meanwhile, Kincardine, along with Ripley, Lucknow & Tiverton will be the site for the OFSAA " A-AA " Hockey Tournaments for Girls and Boys set for March 5th & 6th.
The winners in the Girls Division will head to Timmins for OFSAA while the OFSAA " A-AA " Boys Hockey Championship will also be close to our neighbourhood as it will be hosted by Jean Vanier and utilize two rinks at Collingwood plus Stayner and the Beaver Valley Community Centre in Thornbury.
