Not A Lot Goin'On

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

Generally, April is a somewhat slow from a local sports standpoint.....NOT this year.

Here in the city of Owen Sound, the Canadian Juvenile Broomball Championship Tournament is staging Day 3 of the 4 day event with games at both the Julie McArthur Regional Rec Centre and the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.

Naturally, as the day progresses, the significance will heighten and while there's a nice social event planned for this evening, the real prize is Saturday afternoon when the Gold medal games are staged at the Bayshore.

Check it out.

Meanwhile, the anticipation continues to grow for game 3 of the Attack-Sault Ste Marie series set for Monday night in Owen Sound.

Last night in the opener, the Attack stunned the Greyhounds early with a 3 goals first period on their way to a 4-1 victory.

Game 2 is tonight with Mark McKelvie once again doing the play by play from the Essar Centre on Kia of Owen Sound-Terry's Trailer Service Bearadio.

Plus, the local curling community has split vision this weekend, watching Brad Gushue and Team Canada compete at the World Championships in Las Vegas plus being mindful of what Al Hutchinson and the Paisley Curling Club are doing at the Canadian Masters in BC.

Other than that, it's a quiet weekend for sports fans in the region.

I'm Fred Wallace
