Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
Just like that, it's mid June and among the common sites around the region, in school yards especially is the track & field meet.
Every year at Owen Sound District Secondary School, they have a unique meet designed for our Special Olympians.
This year, the Special Olympics Day at OSDSS featured 6 different categories, 3 each for each gender.
The 2018 first place finishers in the 8 to 11 year old categories were; Jessica Bullock & Johnathan Gallant
Next, in the 12-15 year old division, the Girls winner was Keira Petty while the Boys champion was Kyle Fortune
And finally in the 16-21 age bracket Natlie Ritchie took first place for the Girls while the first place finisher for the Boys was Noah Wylie.
The Special Olympics Day is designed for our local athletes but it also represents a collaboration between the performers, the organization and the host school to which the Leadership Class volunteers at Owen Sound District Secondary School need to take a bow.
I'm Fred Wallace
