Football Weekend

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

The biggest game in Canadian Football comes up on Sunday night in Edmonton as the Calgary Stampeders face the Ottawa RedBlacks for the 2018 Grey Cup.

For Calgary, this is their 3 straight trip to the Grey Cup game; and after losing to the Argonauts last year and to Ottawa the year before, you have to believe the Stampeders motivation to win on Sunday will be sky high.

For Ottawa, it's a remarkable story of a relatively new franchise in an historic CFL city playing for the Championship for the 3rd time in the last 4 years.

The preparation and festivities will be taken up a notch tonight with the CFL Awards in Edmonton.

Calgary quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell and Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Jeremiah Masoli are the finalists for the Most Outstanding Player award.

The 106th Grey Cup will kick off Sunday night.

Of course, south of the border today is American Thanksgiving which means football....a LOT of football.

But more than just tradition, the games today at Detroit, at Dallas and at New Orleans have additional value.

The Lions hope to stall the Chicago Bears in the NFC North

The Cowboys hope to do likewise to the Washington Redskins in the NFC East.

And in the NFC West tonight, the Atlanta Falcons hope to upset the division leading Saints who are 9 & 1 on the season.

Canadian or American. It's a football weekend.

I'm Fred Wallace
