Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
This is a big week for local fastball in the region with games all over Grey and Bruce for both ladies & men.
Tonight, being Tuesday, that means the Grey Bruce Ladies Fastball League will have a pair of games at Desboro with the first game set for 7 pm followed by an 8:30 start for the nightcap.
Also tonight in the Bluewater Fastball League, the Durham Dodgers are in Owen Sound to meet the Bluewater Selects in a doubleheader with the first game set for 7 pm
Then tomorrow night at Duncan McLellan Park, the Owen Sound Men's Fastball League has a pair of games at 7 pm and then two more at 8:30 pm.
And truthfully, that's just the warmup.
This weekend the Ontario Amateur Softball Association will conduct the Under 23 Elimination Tournament with 7 teams competing Saturday & Sunday.
Play starts Saturday morning at 9 am and concludes sometime Sunday afternoon when the 12th...or maybe the 13th game of the tournament is completed.
Of note, both the host entry, the Owen Sound Junior Selects, along with the Dundalk Smoke, will play their opening games of the tournament Saturday at 11 am
On Duncan South at 11 am Saturday, the Smoke meet Tavistock
At the same time on Duncan Major, the Selects face Cobourg
It's conceivable that both the Smoke and Selects could collide in Round 2 at 3 pm Saturday afternoon if they post similar results in their opening games.
Of note, the Canadian Championship Tournament for the Under 23 Age bracket will begin in Saskatoon later this month.
I'm Fred Wallace
