Didn't I say recently we don't talk much about USport....... ?
This weekend, we'll be keeping an eye on the Canadian University Indoor Track and Field Championships in Edmonton
Among those scheduled to compete is Hannah Woodhouse of Heathcote
Woodhouse, a graduate of the Coyote club, and a 4th year University of Guelph student, will be competing in the both the 1500 & 3,000 metre events.
Going into the National University Championship, Woodhouse should have plenty of momentum after competing for Canada last weekend at the 2020 PanAm Cross Country Nations Cup Championships which were staged at the Bear Mountain Resort in Victoria, BC.
Back in November, Woodhouse was 8th in the Senior Women's race at the 2019 Canadian Cross Country Championships in Abbotsford, BC which meant she was 1st alternate for the PanAm event.
However, one of the Top 7 Canadians had to bow out and Woodhouse was elevated to the Canadian entry for the 10K PanAm event.
The PanAm race featured 26 international runners on a 2 kilometre course that everybody had to make 5 loops of
Team Canada's Senior Women's won the gold medal, led by Canadian Olympians, Genevieve Lalonde, who placed 1st overall, and Natasha Wodak, who placed 4th.
Hannah Woodhouse was 16th in 39 minutes and 54 seconds and most significantly was the 5th counter for Canada's Gold medal team
Like I said, we don't usually talk much about USport but some recent happenings for regional athletes has enhanced our level of awareness.
