The 8th annual Brendan Rourke Memorial Inside Ride will be staged at Owen Sound District Secondary School on Wednesday.

The event is designed to financially assist families dealing with escalating costs while battling cancer.

The fundraising goal for the event is close to $ 30,000.

The 39th Annual Georgian Triangle Anglers Association Spring Trout Derby runs from Friday through May 4th. 

Tickets are $20 a person, or $30 for family.

Teams will be constructed at the end of April 

Minor Soccer is looking to increase the number of players in the girls divisions (girls born from 2002-2012)  and boys in the older divisions ( born from 2002-2008).

The Owen Sound Umpires Association is hosting Softball Ontario Umpire Clinics 

* Level 1 certification clinic in Owen Sound on Saturday, April 27
* Level 2 certification clinic in Owen Sound on Sunday, April 28
* Junior/Intermediate Umpire clinic for ages under 18 Sunday, May 5 in Tara

These umpire clinic would also be beneficial to coaches and players, giving them a better understanding of softball, while providing insight into the role officials play in the game.

Sessions are given as classroom instruction as well as drills and practical skill development sessions on diamond or in a gym. Approximately 50% of the clinics will be activity based.

Topics covered at this clinic include: Rules and Definitions, Plate and Base Umpire Mechanics for Fast Pitch and Slo-Pitch, One and Two umpire systems, the Role of the Umpire, Use of the Rulebook, Umpire Signals and more.

Shelley Bellamy as a Builder for Special Olympics coaching, 

Kelly Gribbons as an Athlete for women's hockey and being part of the Silver Medal winning Team Canada women's hockey team at the 2017 World University Winter Games,

Randy Millar as a Builder for track & field coaching,

Becky Smith-Hull as an Athlete for a national junior track & field champion and NCAA career. 

The 4 will be honoured at a special induction evening Thursday May 9 starting at 6 pm in the Rotary Hall at the Saugeen Shores Community Complex in Port Elgin.
