Fall/Winter Minor Sports and Programs Registration will be taking place tonight and Thursday, August 22nd from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. 

The date has been moved forward from previous years to accommodate the earlier registration requirements for each organization.

Owen Sound Minor Sports and Programs Registration allows users to see some of the recreation opportunities available to youth over the winter months and ask questions of each organization.

Organizations participating in the Minor Sports and Programs Registration nights include:

Special Olympics Ontario – Owen Sound
Fudoshin Classical Karate

The 2019 District 27 55+ Regional Senior Games will be hosted in Grey & Bruce Counties tomorrow.

As many as 600 participants will be competing and participating in one of more than 50 events which will be hosted in 7 towns and municipalities in our region; Cargill, Chepstow, Chesley, Hanover, Mildmay, Paisley & Walkerton


The annual Owen Sound Minor Lacrosse Awards & Recognition Night is Thursday

The event begins at 7 pm at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.

The awards include;

The Harry Kazarian MVP award
The Cy Lemon Community and Sportsmanship award
The Cubby Cruickshank MVP award, 
The Jeff Tait Dedication and Perseverance Award, 
The Donnie Campbell Award
The Fred and Wendy Cathrae Volunteer of the year award

The 2019 Owen Sound Subaru Bayshore Race is set for Sunday August 25th

The Rotary Club of Owen Sound presents  " An Evening of Fundraising Poker " on Thursday September 12th at Dancemakers Dance & Gymnastics.

Registration commences at 6 pm, Poker begins at 7 pm

Proceeds from the event will be directed to Camp Presquille 


The annual " Liv-A-Little " Foundation Golf Tournament will be staged at Saugeen Golf Club on Saturday September 14th.

The 23rd annual Meaford Scarecrow Invasion and Family Festival will feature a " Scarecrows’ Book Invasion "

The date and time for this year’s parade is Friday, September 27, starting at 6 p.m. on Sykes Street followed by a family festival at the Rotary Harbour Pavilion 

Free activities for the family, apple pie contest awards and auction, entertainment, and more.

The Georgian Bay Coyotes Track Club will be hosting their 9th annual Coyote Cross Country Race on Saturday, September 28th at the Georgian Bay Community School athletic field.

The race is open to all Grade JK-8 runners in Grey-Bruce.

There were more than 400 runners registered last year. 

There is a maximum of 500 runners that will be registered so we would encourage your athletes to register on-line at the Coyotes website,, as soon as possible in the new school year.

All race information will listed on our website by August 25th

The race distances are:
JK-SK = 800m 
Grade 1-2 = 1km
Grade 3-4 = 1.55km
Grade 5-6 = 1.95km
Grade 7-8 = 2.92km

There is no entry fee, but we do encourage a “free-will donation” to our club at the entrance to the race site to help cover some of our race costs. 

Race entry deadline is Wednesday, September 25th and there is no race-day registration. 


The Annual Meaford Scarecrow Invasion & Family Festival is Friday, October 4th, starting at 6 p.m. on Sykes Street with the parade followed by a family festival at the Rotary Harbour Pavilion featuring free activities for the whole family,

This year’s decorating theme is " Scarecrows’ Book Invasion ".


The 2019 Bob Atkinson Memorial Cross Country Meet for Bluewater West athletes is set for October 16th at Saugeen Bluffs in Paisley
